For the purposes of management and control, Stromlo Forest Park is divided into two areas:

For the purpose of management and control, vehicular access to Stromlo Forest Park is restricted to certain times. The main car park and Bush Fire Memorial car park are open from:

  • 6am to 6pm during non-daylight saving hours and;
  • 6am to 9pm during daylight saving hours.

A contracted security company is responsible for opening and closing the facility. It is the responsibility of users to Stromlo Forest Park that they remove their vehicles from the car parks before the closing time. Any vehicles left inside the carpark will be locked inside Stromlo Forest Park until 6:00am when the car park is re-opened.

All other areas open to the public unless closed. Members of the public may only access these areas using only the available entrances (pedestrian access, cycling, equestrian access points and the main car park).

Please note that the entire park may be closed at certain times. This may be due to (but not limited to) unplanned events such as:

  • Extreme or catastrophic fire danger;
  • Excessive rainfall or severe weather;
  •  Works within the park’s boundaires.

Closures are communicated to the public through Stromlo’s website and social media along with various other media outlets.
