Despite Stromlo Forest Park’s reputation as a world-class sporting venue, the park has become hugely popular with picnicking families, bush walkers and anyone looking for a quick escape from the surrounding suburban and city landscapes.
A first come-first served BBQ area is located within the kids play and riding area, next to the event pavilion. It does get busy on weekends so be sure to arrive early if you can. The BBQ area is not available for bookings.
The criterium track is also popular with roller-skaters, roller-bladers, skateboarders and roller-skiers.
For those looking to explore Stromlo’s bushland by foot, there are various fire trails which run throughout the park. If you’re lucky, you’ll see kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas, wombats, wallaroos, wedgetail eagles and other native animals along the way. You may meet horse riders on the fire trails in the park, click here so you know what to do.
