Mountain Biking

The mountain bike trail network at Stromlo Forest Park boasts over 50km of professionally built and maintained trails. From the dedicated Holden’s Creek beginner’s area, to double black diamond options such as Blood Rock and Cardiac Arrest, there are trails to suit all riding abilities and styles, from beginners to pros.

The trails within the park received much acclaim from the mountain bike racers participating in the 2009 UCI World Mountain Bike Championships and park users can ride the same trails which were used for the World Championships and the 2008 UCI World Cup round.

Skyline and The Luge have become well known favorites over the years and the trails located on the Western side of the mountain such as Deep Creek offer a fun escape from the easily accessible, high traffic areas on the Eastern side of the mountain.

Technical Trail Features (TTFs) such as see-saws, log rides and bridges are located throughout the park and the views over Canberra and the surrounding landscape from the top of the mountain are incredible.

There are 6 suggested loops which can be found on the trail head map catering to various riding abilities and it should be noted that all the mountain bike trails are one-way only. The trails within the park are used by walkers and other users and most fire roads are also designated equestrian (horse riding) trails and so please be aware, cautious and courteous at all times, particularly at trail and fire road crossings.

On going maintenance, trail improvements, events and severe weather means that certain trails will periodically be closed so be sure to check the trail status page for the latest trail information.
